It is applied to the affected area two to three times per day and is absorbed through the skin to reduce inflammation and pain. However, its use should be as directed, suitable only for healthy skin and not to be used for an extended period of time without medical supervision. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and people with a history of allergic reactions to aspirin or NSAIDs should consult a doctor before using ibuprofen gel.
